Nicky Nook

A gorgeous autumn day at Nicky Nook back in 2006(says 05 on the camera. shame we argued then an awful lot before we properly got going on the walk. we did this one a different way from Grizedale bridge car park and walked along and over lovely streams and beautiful woodland. Alot of walks from this time were like this... alot of arguing with some nice walking and us getting on for a while but i made sure i always took something out of these trips :O)

Parlick Hill

We went to Parlick Hill which is near Beacon Fell in poor weather. on a good day paragliders and the like hover over the hill but not this day! to be honest its a short steep climb and as on the picture the top is marked by an iron rod inserted in a pile of rubble! we got to the top and once we over the over side the dreaded 'no dogs' sign stopped us in our tracks again! argh! there was a fence with that sign and also one saying 'danger unexploded shells' so we got out of there! ;)

amy tried to make a call from the top but because it was so exposed and had little signal it wasnt happening. the wind was howling over the top almost enough to knock you off your feet!

Clougha & Crook O' Lune

This was the only walk we did where we had to change where we went after we set off. we went to Clougha Pike and parked up by Jubilee tower car park(bottom pic) but i didnt realise it was 'Strictly no dogs' in that area due to them panicking nesting Grouse :( So i drove us to Crook O'Lune picnic site in Caton near Lancaster. it was pretty busy up there and we walk a few miles mainly down by the side of the River Lune. Its a beautiful place passing under bridges and walking through woodland. unfortunatly it wasnt all good. Amy was in a bad mood and we argued alot. also a whole herd of cows litterally followed us for a mile or two by the side of the river the just never stopped which was unnerving (i think because Henry was wiv us) i also had to literally pick up Henry and carry him over gates and stiles and one time i think we went into a field with a Bull so we walked as quick as we could back where we came! only to be followed by the cows again! all of which didnt improve amys mood!

Longridge Fell

We went on our highest and longest walk we did at the time to Longridge Fell next. my crap blue jacket and jeans were back sadly! i think eventually i went to Freeport and got a proper walking jacket, trousers and rucksack but that was a bit off yet. you start off walking on the huge heather moors before crossing the long stone wall and spending most of the walk in the huge forests. I love walking in the trees and this is one of my favourite places :)

Nicky Nook

This was my first trip to Nicky Nook. reckon i been there more than anywhere else bout 8 times now as i type this and done a few different walks. we got slightly lost this first time and wandered around some old derelict farm buildings and outhouses which was little spooky before going up nicky nook. i was pretty knackered and realising how out of shape i was. am also realising that i didnt take many good pics back in 2006 and my blue coat was pretty crap really!

Calder Vale

then after Beacon Fell the first of 2 trips to the pretty little village of Calder Vale near Garstang. its reached at the end of a dead end road so locals seem a little suspicious of who you are! a nice really gentle walk around ponds, streams and lanes for a few miles. i only took 5 pictures! i usually take bout 20-30 so here are the 'best' 3 out of 5! ;)

Beacon Fell

I thought i would put some old walks on here that got missed. none older than this! this was our first ever walk! me amy and henrys trip to Beacon Fell back in August 2006 started it all off. nothing too amazing or taxing but i got the idea from this that i might just wanna do this more!! oh and i didnt really have any walking gear so on these early ones i would often have jeans or trackie bottoms on! ;)
